How far in advance should I order?
Try to give at least 3 months notice for a celebration cake, and 6 months notice for a wedding cake. Sometimes I might be able to accommodate a cake at shorter notice depending on availability and the design of your cake – so please do contact me to discuss.
Do I need to pay a deposit
30% of your final quoted price is required to secure your booking for celebration cakes and 40% for wedding cakes. This amount is non-refundable and until payment is received your date is not guaranteed.
What happens when I order?
Contact me with details of what you would like to order – include the date you would like it to be delivered/collected, a rough description of design, how many people you require the cake to feed, and what flavours you would like. You will then receive a quote with all the details on. If you then wish to order the cake the booking fee must be paid to secure your order. Please note the booking fee is non refundable and is to secure the date you have requested
Can I send you pictures of what I want?
If you have seen a cake or design somewhere else that you like, feel free to send photos and I can use them for inspiration. I try to avoid copying other peoples cakes because having something unique makes it extra special
When do I need to pay the balance?
For celebration cakes, the balance must be paid in full, a minimum of 7 days prior to delivery/collection via bank transfer or Paypal. Final payment for wedding cakes is required no later than four weeks before your collection/delivery date.
What happens if I want to change the design, or the date of my order?
We will try and accommodate any changes where possible within reason and subject to date availability. We cannot guarantee to do so under short notice however and reserve the right to increase the price quoted for any extra work required. If you do need to amend the design or order date, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss.
Do you deliver?
Yes – delivery is free on all orders over £100, and within a 10-mile radius of my business in Milton Keynes. If you require delivery please state this at the time of ordering otherwise we may not be able to guarantee delivery is available.
A delivery charge of £10 applies to all orders under £100, within a 5 mile radius of my business in Milton Keynes, and 40p per mile after that.
Distances are calculated using Google maps.
Can my cake be decorated with fresh flowers?
Yes! We can supply fresh flowers for your cake, or your florist can do so. We can liaise directly with your florist and arrange with them to supply the flowers at the venue, ready for setting up the cake.
Please note that some flowers are not suitable for use on cakes, and it is your responsibility to ensure that the flowers you choose are safe to come into contact with food.
Can you make cakes for special dietary requirements?
I am able to bake cakes excluding certain ingredients i.e gluten or dairy, however please note these are NOT suitable for those with allergies and I cannot guarantee that your cake will be free from all traces of ANY allergens due to cross contamination in my kitchen. If you require an allergy suitable cake you must use a specially registered cake maker.
While care can be taken to avoid it, all of my cakes, fillings and icings may contain, or come into contact with allergens including soy, wheat/gluten, dairy, sulphur dioxide/sulphites and nuts as they are prepared in a kitchen where these ingredients are commonly used.
Do I need to put my cake in the fridge?
No, putting cakes in the fridge will cause the sponge to dry out and the fondant icing to sweat and later melt. Store your cake in the box provided in a cool dry place. If you have any left over after the event, place cling film over the cake to prevent it drying out.
What are your cakes covered with?
I use a high quality fondant icing to cover and decorate my cakes or you may wish to choose a buttercream covered cake. Certain cake designs may require either a white or dark chocolate ganache underneath the fondant to aid with stability or shape of the design.
How big are your cakes?
Cake sizes will be advised along with your quote, measurements are given in terms of diameter. The standard height of my cakes is approximately 4″ tall but the height may vary with the type of design you require.
